FAQ

A list of our top FAQ’s if there is something missing email us and we will add it.

How much will it cost me to work with you?

Fuel offers a wide range of services, from online (web design and development, hosting, support) to offline print and design (logo and identity design, posters, brochures, catalogues, exhibition graphics etc).

The cost widely varies depending on which service you are looking to contract, how complex the work you require is and how fast you want it done.

The hourly rate or per project rate will reflect the amount we consider fair for the volume and technical aspects of the project or partnership.

For example we currently have client partnerships who supply a consistent flow of work of which we are prepared to offer a very modest hourly rate. (As the relationship builds so do the profits for the companies involved).

Can I get a ballpark estimate?

Email us with a paragraph outlining your project and we will send back an estimate within a 4hrs of receiving the email. (between the hours of 8am and 8pm)

How will we keep in touch during our collaboration?

We have several communication avenues to use: direct line telephone numbers to the designers and web masters, time monitored email replies, instant online meeting and collaboration tools including Skype, Powwownow, FaceTime and Concept Board to name a few.

How will our collaboration work?

We start at the beginning and research your company and the market sector you’re working in. From the initial contact we will start by discussing your project needs and put into action a delivery timeline. From here we will either start the creative brainstorming for your online or offline requirements or jump straight into artwork production if that is requested.

Following design and website visuals we will then discuss and initiate feedback and tweaking, following this production and project delivery. Last but not least client support throughout the process.

How long will it take you to complete my project?

Time is either a great friend or our closest enemy. We come from a background of the customer gets what the customer wants, over the last decade we have learnt to help guide our clients. Working closely with you we often come up with a timeline everyone is happy with. But as nature dictates we are always aware exhibitions and advertising often need instant gratification, and that is one of our strengths.

Will you guide me on how to use the finished project?

We create style guides as standard for your brand identity or website CMS system, we also offer online training for those in charge of your company’s identity.

How will I pay you?

Most projects are invoiced with 30 days terms and we prefer BACS payment although cheques can be received. Please bare in mind that website projects need 25% down-payment before starting the project design. Another 25% will be payed at a discussed time during the project and the final 50% upon going live. For new clients ordering any print production the first order will need to be paid for in full, following orders will then be on account.

Larger projects will require payment plans ie: large catalogues, animations etc.

We now accept payments through PayPal, which accepts Debit, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. The payment process does not require you to have a PayPal account.

Do you offer discounts for non-profits?

Depending on our availability, we can work with a modest budget. You might not be able to get everything for your project wishlist, but we can certainly try to work within your budgetary restrictions. If it is not possible, we’ll tell you straight away and suggest options.

Online project FAQs.

I want a web site. Where do I begin? What do I need to know?

A good foundation and some general instruction allows you to get the most out of our online services. With specific examples of sites you like and don’t like, this helps us to understand the styles and technical communications you prefer. If you aren’t sure and need guidance with branding, colour and concept, that is what we are here for.

How long does it take to build a website?

Each website is unique and may require more or less time to build. Building a site is an exact process, so once your design is finalised, the site still needs to be coded, implemented and tested. This process can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months plus, depending on the size of the site.

Can you setup or move our email?

Yes, we are advocates of Google mail and business apps. and every client we have introduced to Google Apps absolutely love it. If you are a small business with a requirement for less than 10 emails, then Google Apps is free. If you need more, then Google Apps for Business is the way to go. Get in touch with us to talk more about your requirements.

Can we hire you for maintenance on our existing site? What about just an upgrade?

In most cases we can help with requests for site maintenance and upgrades, this is dependent on the original technology that was used to build your website and whether we support it or not.

If you are after an upgrade on your existing site, then we will be happy to assist and it does depend on ones interpretation of an upgrade. This could be simply upgrading to the latest version of WordPress or a complete migration to a diferent framework and/or technology.

We’ll do our best to accommodate last-minute requests, but we are usually booked with new design projects and/or maintenance for our existing clients.

What is a site migration?

If your project requires site migration, this could be one or more of the following:

  • Moving from one server to another on the same host.
  • Moving from one host to another.
  • Switching from one content management system to another.
  • Your link or site structure changes and it requires link and/or feed redirection.

Site migration can be a time consuming process riddled with detail-oriented tasks, so it’s a major factor in project development.  To ensure your links, feeds and pages don’t “break” and are still easily found through Google without broken links and/or duplicate links, it will take time to migrate your site properly, this will be factored into the estimate.

What is a blog? How can a blog enhance my business website?

A blog is online journaling that has become very popular and extremely beneficial to business websites. These blogging tools or Content Management Systems (CMS) can really enhance the performance of a website and create ease for the site owner in making basic updates to its content. Fresh content and updated content is key to keeping your visitors coming back and keeping them informed. It allows you to communicate with your customers in a real way. Most CMS tools have a web-based control panel that you can log into and edit or post updates to your site without ever having to mess with complicated code. It can be used to post news, photos, or it can be used to pull in news feeds from other related sites.

Can I manage my own site after you finish?

Yes! This is another service we are proud of — easy to manage websites.  There are many content management tools available today that can enhance your site and provide an easy way to maintain updates, both to your blog and the website itself. We will choose the tool that suits the needs of the project whether it is bespoke or off the shelf, but you will be in charge.

Will the website be done soon? When can I see something?

We have fallen into the trap of clients wanting to see something way before it is ready – just a peak, we hear! We now build into the timeline a date to start revealing the site and under no circumstances will we show the site until we feel it is ready. Unfortuanately as the project builds get closer to the end this is where testing and more testing comes into play, so please be patient and all will be revealed.

Can you start right now? I want my site up this week.

In truth NO, but email us a deadline and we can put together an estimate and timeline within a 4 hour period of receiving the email. (between the hours of 8am and 8pm)
